Hooking Him (How to Catch an Alpha Book 3)

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes the sizzling final installment to the humorous and heart-filled How to Catch an Alpha series.

Anna McAlister needs a new life. But that doesn’t mean she needs a new man. After leaving her fiancé and Chicago behind, she promises herself no dating until she finds what she’s looking for. But meeting one seriously hot and determined detective has her questioning herself.

Calvin Miller is that detective, and he’s been burned by women in the past. It’s easy for him to sleep alone and focus on his work, but the moment he lays eyes on Anna, he starts imagining sexy nights with her wrapped in his sheets. Maybe it’s time to get back out there.

But just as the attraction between them begins to sizzle, Anna’s past shows up to create trouble. And to make matters worse, a string of murders forces Calvin to juggle his new relationship and his career. His worst fear? That the two are somehow connected.

Can they find love together, or will her past and his duty sink their hopes?

Review: Hooking me!

This is the last book in the “How to Catch an Alpha” series, and I had high expectations for this one. Like the previous books, it’s well written and just hooks you right in. And it’s a light and easy read, just perfect for the time we’re in.

I enjoyed reading about someone that had the guts to leave it all behind, and start over. Anna was a strong person that left her toxic life behind in pursuit of an easy and happy life. She finds more that she bargains for and fits right in with Edie and “the Golden girls”. Those had me cracking up, and I wish my neighbours were like that.

Calvin is the strong alpha male that has had his share of hard times. And as a result isn’t really trusting. Probably a job hazard as well, since he’s a police detective. He was a strong alpha, without it being too much.

Their first meeting really had me laughing, just classic!
They don’t get the best start, but Calvin sorts it out pretty quickly. What was pretty clear form the start though, was their instant chemistry and connection. Mix with a little murder/mystery and you have the recipe for a fun and easy read with great characters. Would really recommend this book. In fact, read all three – in order!
